Focus on Moebius : Behind the miror, we got lost in the new Arzak world

[EN] The portrait of the week is this time devoted to the cartoonist and writer Moebius, that certainly influenced the contemporary science fiction by his flying machines and his utopian graphics worlds. Over 30 years later, he rehabilitates the work that made him famous, then the original character Arzach now become Arzak, the drawing has been refined and the author confides that "evolution" is necessary to stay alive and to "not disapear". Is that fear of disapear ? While the artist has been and is still today a source of inspiration for many artists in cinema, comics or music, Moebius seem's having some doubt about his art ! His collaborations on the 5th element (L. Besson), Alien (R. Scott) or Abyss (J. Cameron) show that he is a source of inspiration for all artistic domain which are finally linked each others... The Museum Fondation Cartier in Paris is also preparing an exhibition on Moebius work, a way for the fans to wait until the next episode of the adventures of Arzak which should come up at the end of the next year.

[FR] Le portrait de la semaine est cette fois-ci consacré au dessinateur et scénariste Moebius, qui a très certainement nourri la science fiction contemporaine par ses engins volants et ses univers graphiques utopiques. Plus de 30 ans après, il réadapte l'oeuvre qui l'a rendu célèbre, Arzach est alors devenu Arzak, le trait s'est affiné et l'auteur confie avoir fait "avancer, évoluer" pour ne pas que son oeuvre soit "condamnée à disparaître". C'est peut être la science qu'il s'est efforcé d'esquisser pendant toutes ces années qui aujourd'hui lui fait peur ; une peur d'être éclipsé par une personnage numérique ? Peur de disparaître ? Et pourtant l'artiste a été et demeure une source d'inspiration pour nombre d'artistes issus du cinéma, de la BD ou de la musique. Ses collaborations notamment sur le 5e Element de L. Besson,  Alien de R. Scott ou encore Abyss de J. Cameron témoignent par eux même de l'influence que peut avoir ce dessinateur de génie dans un monde artistique où tout est lié... La Fondation Cartier à Paris s'apprête également à consacrer au "maitre" une exposition, de quoi faire patienter les fans en attendant la suite des aventures d'Arzak qui ne devrait pas pointer le bout de son nez avant fin 2011...
